Can I port my number back out of EkoDial ?

Yes, you always have full control of your phone number and can port it out at any time.

Can I use my number during the porting process?

Yes, you can use your phone number as is until your port date. Most customers do not experience any service disruptions.

How much does porting cost?

The porting process is free. Each user account comes with one phone number, and extra numbers added to your workspace will incur a charge of $1.20 per month.

What type of numbers are eligible for porting?

You can transfer any local US or Canadian number, including North American toll-free numbers, to EkoDial from any traditional or virtual carrier. Numbers from outside the US and Canada cannot be transferred in.

How do things work with my current phone provider?

Once the porting process is complete, you can cancel your account with your current provider. Do not cancel it before the port is complete to avoid service interruption.

How long will the porting process take?

The process takes between 2 and 4 weeks and depends on how quickly we hear back from your current phone service provider. Unfortunately, these timelines are beyond our control and cannot be expedited.

What are the most common reasons for delays?

The information you provide in your porting request must match exactly with the details your current phone service provider has on file. Any differences or additional information may cause your current phone service provider to reject EkoDial’s port request. Additionally, the phone number you’re porting in must be active with your current phone service provider.

If you are transferring a Canadian phone number, you need to reply to the confirmation text from your current phone service provider within 90 minutes of receiving it.

What should I keep in mind before porting my number to EkoDial?

You need internet access to use EkoDial. If you’re transferring your personal phone number, you’ll need to use it on Wi-Fi or a local data plan.

EkoDial numbers cannot receive SMS verification codes from some services. For example, Uber, Airbnb, WhatsApp, and banks do not allow virtual phone numbers to be used for authentication.

Virtual phone number providers such as EkoDial do not provide emergency call services, such as 911.

While we do not charge any fees and are happy to port your number in or out for free, your current phone service provider may charge a fee to port your number to us.

Do my text and phone call histories get ported too?

No. Your phone and text conversations will not transfer to EkoDial during the porting process, but you can easily import and sync your contacts.
